Tinted Moisturizers

A friend recently asked me to recommend a tinted moisturizer. To answer this question fully, I would need to know more about your skin tone and color. You might like the way one brand matches your skin tone, but not the way it feels on your skin; if you're dry, you need something more emoillent, combination, less so.


There are many good tinted moisturizers out there. Here are a few of them:

*Kiehl's Ultra Facial Tinted Moisturizer $24.50

But here is a trick. If you have a moisturizer you like and you like your foundation, you can mix them to create your own private label brand.

Two weeks until V-day. If you want to pick up a little something for your sweetie, or your l'il sis but you don't want to spend a fortune, or get caught with the wrong product, consider a gift card from Ricky's. Happy V-DAY

My friends at Kiehl's come up with the cutest gifts. I stopped by the store on Columbus Ave. earlier in the week and this trio of glosses caught my attenion. You could buy this for a friend, your mom, or yourself. The Kiehl's glosses are great. I just gave one to a friend in North Carolina and she loves it. I have a sneaking suspicion she would like this too. The trios sell for $43.50. But if that is too pricey, they are also sold individually. And if you happen to swing by one of Kiehl's free standing stores, be sure to ask for a free fake (temporary) tatoo, in honor of V-day, of course.

Ali Larter

This actress is truly a Hero. She did have a great role in one of my favorite films, Legally Blonde. If you want to look good. If you want to send off waves of confidence, take a lesson from Ali Larter. In this picture she looks like a cross between Heidi Klum and Christie Brinkley. Her smile says it all. She is happy and confident. Priceless. And by the way, what is she eating? Is that a piece of chocolate? Sure looks like it is.

The Job Hunt and the Haircut

Today I had the day off. What does that mean? First I ran an errand. Then I went to the gym to work on my speed running. Then I went to a new dermatologist on the Upper East Side. It may be hard to believe but my dermatologist's name is Doris Day. She's a lovely brunette who I met through some of my work at ABC News Now. I went to her office hoping she would laser some dark spots off of my face. But Dr. Day was conservative and wrote me a prescription for a skin lightener. Dr. Day suggested that I start taking Vitamin D. I bought some. We'll see how it goes. After the visit to Dr. Day's office on the Upper East Side I headed back to the West Side to get my hair colored. It was looking kind of brassy and getting a little gray. I treated myself to a blow out. I've got an important meeting tomorrow and figured it wouldn't hurt to look my best. I have to remember that ... when all else fails, get my hair done. It can't hurt.

Introducing Miss Nina

This is a picture of my cat Nina. I am posting this picture because I find it, and her amusing. Nina's white fur never ceases to amaze me. Somehow her fur stays super soft and as white as snow. Isn't she just dreamy? I did not grow up with a pet. I got Nina after college and we've been together ever since. Sometimes you just have to get a pet. On those days when you want to throw the towel in, you run your hand through their fur and feel better. Although a pint of Ben and Jerry's doesn't hurt either.

Twinkling Rose

A friend introduced me to the pretty lip gloss to the left. It's made by my new favorite company 3 Custom Color Specialists. This shade is called Twinkling Rose, and it's just lovely. You can wear this alone for a natural look. Or, layer it on top of just about any lip color to spice things up. I have a feeling this gloss would look good on anyone from Halle Berry to Jennifer Aniston to Jennifer Garner and Hillary Clinton.
This lip gloss will garner you many compliments, and questions ... specifically, where can I get one? Hopefully you won't have to answer any questions about universal health care.

Cover Girl Lash Blast -- A winner!

Talk about easy, breezy, and beauty-ful.

Cover Girl's new mascara - the one worn by darling Drew Barrymore - is amazing.
Look for the orange tube. Can't miss it. Don't.
One of my favorite things about this mascara is the tube itself. It kind of clicks when closed. I don't know if that was intentional, but it helps to know the seal is tight.
I've worn the mascara a few times now and my lashes look great - long and dark. Brightens my whole face.
Lash Blast does not smudge easily. Nor does it flake. This is a winner.
